Firebird Community Cycle literally gets wheels rolling next Sunday with its spring bike sale.

It runs Sunday, May 5 from 2-7 p.m. at Firebird’s outdoor shop at 134 Anne St. S., behind the Canadian Mental Health Association building.

A registered not-for-profit organization, Firebird’s mission is to help get more people on bicycles in Barrie.

“Every bicycle sold at Firebird has been assessed for repair and checked for safety by expert volunteer mechanics. You can ride right off the lot with a confident smile,” said Judy Morozuk, a volunteer board member with Firebird.

Firebird has affordable used bicycles for sale, including young kids’ bikes, to families for an average donation of $20, or pay-what-you-can.

“Childhood is when most people fall in love with bike riding, and Firebird aims to level the playing field by providing access to affordable bikes,” said Morozuk.

Bicycles of all kinds, and for all ages, are available to purchase during Firebird's regular Sunday evening repair shop hours throughout the year.

Firebird has, however, been saving its best inventory of adult and youth bikes repaired during the winter for its big spring bike sale event.
