A recycling facility is ablaze on Tiffin Street in Barrie today, sending plumes of black smoke over the city.
“(The fire) is outside of the building. There are a bunch of recycled cars on fire at this point, and we do have crews on scene,” Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Justin Gilbert told BarrieToday.
Police are also asking the public to stay away from the Tiffin Street and Ferndale Drive area due to the large industrial fire at All Ontario Recycling, near Patterson Road.
“Area businesses are being evacuated due to the heavy smoke in the area,” they said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Roads are also blocked off in the area as emergency crews respond.
