Driver charged after crash with light pole closes Mapleton Ave.

No injuries reported in south-end collision Tuesday

A single-vehicle crash into a light pole closed Mapleton Avenue in Barrie for a few hours on Tuesday.

Mapleton Avenue in Barrie was closed near Pinecliff Crescent for a few hours Tuesday after a vehicle collided with a light pole in the city’s south end.

City police received the call at 10:59 a.m.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday the vehicle was left on the scene for an hour after the collision due to crews dealing with the electrified pole.

The woman driving the vehicle faces a charge of leaving the roadway in an unsafe manner.

No injuries were reported.

The road has since reopened to traffic.
