INNISFIL — South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam video after a tow-truck driver was injured in a fail-to-remain collision.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, around 1 p.m., police responded to Innisfil Beach Road at the Highway 400 eastbound ramp for a fail-to-remain collision involving a pedestrian.

Once on scene, officers learned that a tow-truck driver had just finished loading a broken down yellow school bus onto a flatbed trailer when, at approximately 12:40 p.m., he was struck from behind while standing beside his truck.

The 34-year-old King Township man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for witnesses or motorists with dash cam video to contact police at 705-436-2141, 905-775-3311 or Crime Stoppers.

Ontario's  'Move Over' law requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck parked on the side of the highway with its lights activated. If the highway has more than one lane, the law requires the driver to move over and leave one lane between their vehicle and the parked emergency vehicle or tow truck if it can be done safely. Drivers can face fines from $490 to $2,000 by failing to comply.
