Barrie police arrest a man during a weapons call on Mary Street on May 7. One of the men was found to be wanted due to an outstanding warrant. No weapons were found by police.

Police arrested a man on an outstanding warrant in downtown Barrie yesterday after responding to a possible weapons call.

At 6:08 p.m. on May 7, city police responded to a report of a man with a weapon on Mary Street.

“Upon arrival, two males were observed having an argument and the situation resolved itself with the presence of the police,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday on Wednesday.

He said officers determined there were no weapons involved.

Police said there was an outstanding warrant for one of the men, who appeared to be “heavily intoxicated." As a result, he was transported to police headquarters on Fairview Road where he was processed.

The man was also ticketed for being intoxicated in a public place and later released from custody when police determined it was safe to do so.
