The Barrie Baycats will swing open the gates at the ballpark tonight so fans can get an early look at this year's team.

The Intercounty Baseball League team will host its annual Media Night at Vintage Throne, which is located at the Barrie Community Sports Complex in Midhurst.

Thursday's event, which runs from 8-10 p.m., is open to the public. Fans will have access to the players for pictures, questions and autographs.

The Baycats will also be practising on the field, with pitchers throwing live off the mound to hitters.

"This will be a great opportunity to meet some of the new players, see your favourite players and get excited about the upcoming season," says the team.

On Saturday, May 11, the Baycats will host the Thornhill Reds, defending two-time champs in the Greater Toronto Baseball League, for an exhibition game. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and admission is free.

The Baycats open their 2024 IBL season on Thursday, May 16 when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit Vintage Throne Stadium.
