After a brief illness at Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia Bruce died unexpectedly from complications of Lyme Disease from a Deer Tick Bite contracted days earlier. Bruce, a longtime resident of Oro- Medonte ON and much loved partner of Wendy McKay for 27 years.  Affectionately missed by his sisters and spouses, Corine & Jim Gray and Daphine & Bill Walker.

He will be lovingly missed by his nieces and nephews and spouses, Curtis & Christy, Nadine & John, Brett & Val, Giselle, Averil & Barry. Bruce had a special place in his heart for his great nieces and nephews: Allison & Renee, Cooper, Emmett, Diesel, Wyatt & Anna. He will be sadly missed and remembered by Wendy’s sisters and spouses, Jacqueline & Jim Pegg and Louise & Rusty Robinson and their families. His extended nieces and nephews and spouses; Devin, Claragh & George, Gilly & Jesse & Tulaigh and Alex & Melissa, Drew & Meigan and great nephews Luke and Rory. Bruce will be fondly remembered by his many cousins and longtime friends.

Bruce farmed the home farm of his parents Aikins & Della (Gilchrist) Wiggins and formed friendships throughout Simcoe County. This was followed by many enjoyable years as a Barrie Real Estate Broker developing new friendships and acquaintances. He volunteered tirelessly with The Oro Fair Board, The Oro Lion’s Club, the former Township Historical Committee and African Church Committee and spent many hours on equipment restoration of antiques in Springwater at the Park and at the Old Mill in Coldwater.

Both the Tractor Rally and the Demolition Derby were special events. He had a keen interest in old cars and spent many hours driving his 1971 green Cadillac Convertible and taking his young nieces and nephews for rides often resulting in a special ice cream treat. Herc and Charlie, his dog pals, were always part of this adventure. His current constant companion “Buddy” was never far from his side whether playing on the beaches in Nova Scotia or riding with him and Wendy in the car.

A Casual Gathering to remember Bruce and share stories will be held at Corine and Jim’s Home on Saturday, June 22nd from 1-4 pm.
Cremation has taken place. If desired Memorial donations may be given directly to the Oro Lions Club, the Oro World’s Fair, RVH or a charity of your choice.
