An Oro-Medonte woman is facing impaired driving charges after police say she crashed into a hydro pole Friday afternoon.
At about 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 16, emergency crews responded to the scene on Line 12 South in Oro-Medonte. Police were told the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, was injured and was attempting to get out of the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and was kept in police custody while being taken by ambulance to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. She suffered minor injuries, Orillia OPP said in a news release.
A 66-year-old Oro-Medonte woman has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol) and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus). She is set to appear in court in Orillia in March. Her driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
