Loaded handguns seized, 4 people arrested for drug trafficking

OPP allege suspects were trafficking drugs in Collingwood and Owen Sound area; police say officers seized 67.9 grams of fentanyl and 41.3 grams of cocaine

Provincial police arrested four people and seized fentanyl, cocaine and two loaded semi-automatic handguns this week as part of an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation. 

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP confirmed the arrests in a news release issued Sept. 26. 

According to OPP, the suspects were involved in trafficking drugs in Collingwood and Owen Sound areas. 

Local police worked with the community street crimes unit, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and used the OPP tactics and rescue unit and surveillance support to arrest the four people on Tuesday, Sept. 24. 

Collingwood OPP confirmed the arrests were made during a vehicle stop. 

Police say officers seized two loaded semi-automatic handguns, 67.9 grams of fentanyl, 41.3 grams of cocaine, a "small amount" of cash and drug paraphernalia. 

The four people arrested include Mohamed Ahmed, 25, of Scarborough; Alexia Fournel, 20, of Milton; Karime Khairy, 23, of Mississauga; and Mohammed Salih, 27, also from Mississauga. 

Ahmed faces the following charges: 

  • Possession of cocaine for purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of opioid for the purpose of trafficking
  • Two counts of possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Two counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

Fournel faces the following charges: 

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of opioid for the purpose of trafficking
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Two counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

Khairy faces the following charges: 

  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Two counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of opioid for the purpose of trafficking

Salih faces the following charges:

  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Two counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of opioid for the purpose of trafficking 

All four parties were held in custody to appear for a virtual bail hearing, which took place on Sept. 25, 2024.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
