MIDLAND - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of male driver being threatened by a another male driver after a road-rage incident on King Street in Midland after 11 p.m. July 20, 2019.
Attending officers located the victim and the suspect in a Midland Avenue convenience store parking lot and upon speaking with the male suspect seized a conductive energy device known as a cattle prod.
Officers investigated the incident and have charged Michael Zachary Corriveau, 25 years old of Tay Township with:
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon at unauthorized place
- Assault with a weapon
both offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Aug. 29, 2019.
Officers remind motorists and operators that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways, waterways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority and stress that drivers/operators make the right choice and Never Drive Impaired.
