Jennifer Coughlin has been elected mayor of Springwater Township, according to unofficial results released Monday night.
Coughlin had 3,472 votes, followed by Perry Ritchie with 1,706 and Bill Haight with 421.
George Cabral was elected deputy mayor with 2,409 votes, with Wanda Maw-Chapman coming in second with 2,091 and Dennis Gannon in third with 1,001.
In Ward 1, Matt Garwood was named the winner with 788 votes, followed by Francis Horgan (202) and Janette O'Neill-Scott (137).
In Ward 3, Brad Thompson won with 542, followed by Cory Mainprize (who is Barrie's fire chief) with 522, and Hale Mahon with 278.
In Ward 4, the winner was Anita Moore with 577 votes, followed by Linda Smith with 479.
In Ward 5, Phil Fisher was the winner with 744 votes, followed by Dominika Zapolnik with 567.
Danielle Alexander was acclaimed in Ward 2.
The township says certified results and declaration of election are expected by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The new council will officially take office at the inaugural meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
