“I am delighted to be able to have a fulsome discussion with Elizabeth (May) about the ways that Greens can co-operate where they are elected as both MPs and MPPs,” said Bonnie North today.

North will host May, the parliamentary leader of the Green Party of Canada, at a virtual event on Tuesday, May 24.

North, representing the Greens for a fifth time, says she is running to make sure that people and the planet are put first.

“I’m excited to be running for the Green Party again. We offer a better option for progressives, from all parties, who are disillusioned with the status quo,” says North. “I’m committed to engaging voters on issues important to the communities in Barrie-Innisfil. This is our home and we have to make sure that we protect and grow it in the best way possible.”

North was twice elected as the deputy leader of the Green Party of Ontario (GPO), and has served on numerous GPO governance and volunteer committees. Currently, North is the central representative on the GPO provincial executive.

North grew up in a military family. Having served in the Navy Reserves for 15 years herself, she is currently a registered nutritional consulting practitioner, and her emphasis is on continuous learning. North has earned certificates and credits from various institutions, including the University of Guelph, Cornell and MIT.

“I’m thrilled that Bonnie is once again running for the Greens,” says Elizabeth May. “Bonnie’s passion and experience in the local community will make her a strong MPP. She will bring an honest debate about issues that matter: protecting food and water, ending poverty and improving health care, specifically for seniors. I am looking forward to our conversation and engaging with the voters of Barrie-Innisfil.”

The event with May will be held on Zoom on May 24 at 7 p.m. You can register at https://vote.greenparty.ca/rsvp/eve_dc1647151. For more information on North, you can visit www.bonnienorth.ca.
