An outbreak has been declared by the health unit at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus after two more students have tested positive for COVID-19.

This adds to one case already reported at the school on Nov. 10. One classroom was closed due to that case, and remains closed.

An outbreak at a school is defined by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff (or other visitors) with an epidemiological link (i.e. shared space or objects with each other), within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have contracted COVID-19 in the school (including transportation and before/after school care).

The school remains open.

The school board and the health unit have not reported whether the individual is a student or staff member.

This marks the third outbreak at a school in Simcoe County declared by the health unit. The first was declared at Bradford District High School on Oct. 29, and was declared over this week. The second was declared at Hillcrest Public School in Barrie on Nov. 2, and it still ongoing.
