Here's where you can get tested for COVID-19 in Barrie

Following the provincial directive, Barrie healthcare providers are working together to ensure anyone who wishes to be tested for COVID-19 can receive the test.

If you have severe symptoms:

  • Go to RVH’s Emergency Department or call 9-1-1 if a medical emergency.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms:

Go to the Barrie COVID-19 Alternate Assessment Centre located at:

  • 490 Huronia Road, Barrie
  • Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The assessment centre is walk-in only where you will be assessed by a physician or nurse practitioner, who will provide you with the necessary care for your medical needs as well as instructions for self-care and follow up as required. 

COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • Difficulty breathing; fever; cough; muscle aches; fatigue; headache; sore throat and runny nose.
  • Additional symptoms may include hoarse voice; difficulty swallowing; loss of sense of smell or taste; diarrhea or nausea/vomiting, conjunctivitis.
  • For seniors, symptoms may also include chills; delirium with no other obvious reason; falls; acute functional decline; increased heart rate and decreased blood pressure. 

If you DO NOT have symptoms but want to be tested:

  • Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre – “Clinic C” (Drive-thru only)
  • 201 Georgian Drive – Atrium entrance (look for the three flagpoles)
  • Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please note the Atrium entrance is closed. It is only being used for the COVID-19 drive-thru clinic. Patients with scheduled hospital appointments must use the Main entrance only. For emergencies, use the Emergency entrance.

Additional testing and walk-in clinic:

  • Barrie & Community Family Medicine Clinics -  walk-in clinic
  • Prince William – Shoppers Drug Mart plaza
  • 829 Big Bay Point Road, Barrie, Unit D12
  • Hours: June 9 to June 21 (hours will be published 2 weeks at a time)
  • Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This walk-in clinic will resume regular walk-in medical services starting June 9, 2020 and will also continue to provide comprehensive virtual care. COVID-19 testing is available to meet community demand with pre-booked appointments available. Please visit www.barriewalkinclinics.ca for details.

Patients are asked to arrive wearing their own mask or facial covering.   

Huronia Urgent Care Clinic (HUCC):

  • This is NOT a COVID-19 testing centre
  • 480 Huronia Road, Unit 102
  • Patients must call to book an in-person or virtual visit 705-792-0933.
