Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) will launch the #ShowRVHLove Online Auction tomorrow (May 20, 2020 at 7 a.m.) to help our healthcare heroes on the frontlines of the ongoing COVID-19 battle. Funds raised during the three-week event will support the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), help to purchase lifesaving equipment such as ventilators, provide tablets to allow patients to communicate with loved ones and other priority needs as the RVH staff and physicians focus on continuing to care for our community during this unprecedented time.
“Team RVH has been working tirelessly to provide the highest level of patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic. And they are not doing it alone; requests and offers to help from local businesses and individuals have been nothing short of extraordinary,” says Eric Dean, RVH Foundation CEO. “We know our goal of keeping our families, friends and community safe and healthy is a shared one. By supporting the online auction our community is putting the best tools into the right hands during this battle.”
The #ShowRVHLove Online Auction will feature many fun, unique, entertaining and educational virtual experiences and items donated by local businesses and community leaders that can be enjoyed safely from home. These include a virtual behind-the-scenes tour of Barrie City Hall with Mayor Jeff Lehman, a one-on-one virtual gardening consult with popular television personality Frankie Flowers, a virtual studio tour with contemporary Canadian artist Charles Pachter, coaching sessions with IBL Champion Barrie Baycats, virtual dining with local media personalities, social media, business and life skills classes, private concert performances by local entertainers and so much more.
Community members can visit the auction site www.auctionforRVH.ca to view items. Bidding begins May 20 at 7 a.m. and ends on June 10, 2020 at 9 p.m. sharp. New and exciting virtual experiences and items will be added online weekly to support your frontline healthcare heroes! Donations are still being accepted - please contact Jenna Hunter, RVH Foundation via email: [email protected] to inquire.
RVH thanks the many local businesses and individuals who have come forward to support the health centre. The commitment and support of our community has helped RVH prepare for moments like this - together we will get through this unprecedented time.
