Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 are being reported today at schools in Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Orillia, and Alliston.
Holly Meadows Elementary School, located on Mapleton Avenue in south-end Barrie, is reporting one new case. No classrooms have been closed as a result of this case.
St. Michael of Archangel Catholic School, also in the city's south end on Big Bay Point Road, is reporting a new case, with one classroom closed. One other case was reported at the school on Dec. 1, however no classrooms were closed as a result of that case.
St. Joseph's Catholic High School on Cundles Road East in north-end Barrie is reporting one new case with one classroom closed. This adds to two cases previously reported on Nov. 23 when one classroom was closed, and one other case reported on Nov. 27.
Portage View Public School on Letitia Street in Barrie is reporting two new cases. The west-end school has one other active case, reported on Nov. 30, where one classroom was closed. The school also had one case on Nov. 5, however that case has since recovered.
Barrie North Collegiate Institute on Grove Street East in Barrie is reporting one new case with one classroom closed. The school had previously reported one case on Oct. 16, however that case has since recovered.
Bear Creek Secondary School in south-end Barrie is reporting two new cases today with three classrooms closed. This adds to two active cases previously reported on Dec. 2 and 4. The school has also seen cases reported on Sept. 21 and Nov. 9, although those two cases have since recovered.
Eastview Secondary School on Grove Street East in Barrie is reporting one new case. The school has another active case that was previously reported on Dec. 1, with one classroom closed.
Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil is reporting three individuals with two classrooms closed. The school was declared in outbreak on Dec. 3. These cases add to one case which was posted on Nov. 25. Previously, the school had one case posted on Oct. 25 and one case on Nov. 9, however those two cases have since recovered.
Our Lady of Grace School in Angus is reporting a new case of one individual with one classroom closed. The school had previously been reported in outbreak on Nov. 12 after three cases were reported at the school, however those three cases have since recovered and the outbreak was declared over on Nov. 23.
Boyne River Public School in Alliston is reporting one new case with one classroom closed. The school previously reported a case and classroom closure on Nov. 19, however that case has since recovered.
Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia is reporting one new case and classroom closure. This adds to one other case and classroom closure reported on Nov. 30.
There are currently six schools across Simcoe County declared in outbreak according to the health unit's reporting: Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, Nantyr Shore Secondary School in Innisfil, Steele Street Public School in Barrie, Bradford District High School in Bradford, St. Joan of Arc High School in Barrie, and Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School in Angus. The health unit updates their outbreak list at 1 p.m. daily.
The schools all remain open.
The school boards and the health unit have not reported whether the individuals are students or staff members.
