NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
************************
Children across Innisfil will have additional opportunities for play this weekend as the town reopens select playgrounds starting today.
As the Simcoe-Muskoka region enters into Stage 3 of the Province’s reopening framework, Innisfil will follow a gradual approach to reopening other facilities and amenities as it is safe to do so.
“For many children and families, getting back to their favourite monkey bars and swings will feel like a significant milestone in the recovery process,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We certainly appreciate everyone’s patience during our closure, and ask that families using the playgrounds continue to follow public health recommendations and posted signage.”
Ten playgrounds are now open at the following parks:
- 10th Line Park - 623 10th Line
- Belle Ewart Park - 980 Emily Street
- Centennial Park - 2870 7th Line
- Cookstown Community Park - 20 Church Street, Cookstown
- Crossroads Park - 2200 Jans Boulevard
- Dempster Park - 2770 Dempster Avenue
- Fennel’s Corners - 2220 Gilford Road
- Innisfil Beach Park - 676 Innisfil Beach Road
- Mapleview Park - 461 Mapleview Drive
- Webster Park - 1945 Webster Boulevard
All other playgrounds remain closed at this time and will reopen through a phased approach in the coming weeks. This approach assists staff in completing mandatory inspections, installing new signage and ensuring the playgrounds are in safe condition prior to opening.
The town encourages those using playgrounds to:
- practice safe physical distancing;
- wash or sanitize your hands before and after using the play area;
- come back later if the area seems too busy and physical distancing is not possible;
- limit your time if others are waiting; and
- stay home if you feel sick.
