I am a senior living in Barrie since 1972. When I first moved here, I could never figure out why the Barrie waterfront was nowhere near as nice as the one in Orillia!

It took all of these years for Barrie to catch up to where it is today and finally has a beautiful bayshore for all to enjoy.

Now city council is planning on destroying the natural beauty of the lakefront as well as taking some of it away from the general public's use.

I volunteered at the information booths during Kempenfest for 24 years and the one recurring theme I heard from visitors to Barrie was that we had a beautiful, unspoiled treasure along the shores of the bay.

The decision by city council to go ahead with this boondoggle reeks to high heaven.
