I never thought growing up nearby in Orillia that I would see Barrie boom so fast and become so busy.

I've been here a month and also want to commend the vast shoreline walking trails, ideal for nice days.

Barrie was somewhat of a town on standstill growing up, an entertainment weekend city where people haunted the bars and venues along the main drag. It once hosted big names in entertainment and it was the hub of Simcoe County.

Though the lively cowboy-town-vibe still lingers in its central district, I see the social and cultural landscape vastly changed by technology.

I imagine Barrie will be a key player to a much further extent in Ontario, and especially the GTA, in coming years.

My only critique is the metallic sounds of progress around the shoreline. People naturally love to walk in the early morning to clear their heads and get ready for their day, yet the noise commences shortly after dawn and is loud enough to the point where people have to shout at each other. Bad for business. Jus' sayin'.
