LETTER: Barrie resident tired of everything needing an app

'Maybe it is time seniors are treated with more respect. Not all seniors are computer savvy,' says letter writer

BarrieToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following is in response to 'LETTER: Parking app creates headache for local senior,' published June 7.

I just read the letter in BarrieToday from Pat Hillcoat. I agree with her 100 per cent.

It seems every time you want to do something — ie. apply for something, pay for something, attend something, etc. — people are asked to use the downloaded app.

What about those people that don’t want, or can’t do this? In my opinion, they are being discriminated against.

Lots of people only have a cellphone for receiving and making phone calls, and for receiving and sending text messages. (In my experience, especially seniors.)

Why should people lose out on such things as parking, attending an event, etc.?

Maybe it is time that everyone is treated with respect and allowed to participate in events etc.

Maybe it is time seniors are treated with more respect.

Not all seniors are computer savvy. Not all seniors can afford the necessary devices or fees to do what so many individuals/cities are asking ... Download my app.

It is time, in my opinion, that everyone, should be treated equally and allowed the same opportunities.

Thanks, Pat, for bringing this to the forefront.
