The following letter is in response to a story titled 'Innisfil council supports casino move, leaving Georgian Downs racing in peril,' published June 6, and 'What does casino's possible move mean for Innisfil site?' published May 7.

Here we go again!

I was so happy to hear that Gateway feels that "relocated gaming sites result in significant capital investment from service providers, as well as new jobs during construction and for ongoing operations.”

That's just great, but what about the families who directly depend on horse racing for their income? Have they been considered in this move?

And how about all the supportive jobs such as equine vets, feed providers, farmers, track maintenance, commentators, camera people, tote staff and the many others who support horse racing at Georgian Downs? Have they been considered in this move?

Horse racing contributes more than $2 billion to Ontario's GDP annually and employs more than 23,000 people. Yet, somehow it isn't considered a legit industry and always gets the short end of the stick.

So, here we go again!
