LETTER: Innisfil becoming 'just-as-expensive version of Toronto'

I just read the article about another new community beginning construction in the Stroud area.

The article referenced affordable housing for young families. These homes come with a starting price in the mid-$800,000s. How is this affordable to anybody, much less a young family buying their first home?

I’ve been living in Innisfil for 20 years and moved here because it was affordable, with the expectation that the family I raised would also be able to set down roots here. Sadly, that is no longer the case.

I am saddened that my 30-year-old daughter and her family have little hope of ever owning a home in Innisfil. Our quaint town has become a smaller, just-as-expensive version of Toronto, minus the amenities.

I am starting to question Innisfil leadership and their vision for the future. They say they are committed to keeping the small-town feel, but when you look at the development, their actions don’t match their words.

That’s my two cents.
