Yesterday, there was a community-based effort to provide support for our unhoused neighbours who are currently residing at Milligan’s Pond.
This event saw the collaborative efforts of members of the community, neighbours of the park and staff of local agencies come together with a goal of helping reduce the amount of litter that had accumulated in the area over the previous months.
Through the joint efforts of all involved, the group was able to come together and work alongside members of the Milligan’s Pond community and work with a common goal of reduce the amount of waste in the area.
Although yesterday’s effort was a great start, there is so much more that is needed for our community.
Barrie needs sustainable housing options, options that honour people's dignity, autonomy and self-determination, and foster a supportive community.
