As the leaves begin to change and the crisp autumn air settles in, Downtown Barrie is thrilled to announce a lineup of fall events as part of the Open Air Meridian series.
This season, Meridian Place will be the heart of community celebration, hosting four unique events that promise to bring friends, families, and neighbours together for unforgettable experiences. From live music to cultural celebrations, Thanksgiving gatherings, and spooky Halloween festivities, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
Event Lineup:
1. Open Air Live Music featuring Ombiigizi – Sunday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Kick off the season with an electrifying live music performance by the acclaimed Ombiigizi! Set against the stunning backdrop of Meridian Place, this event is perfect for music lovers of all ages. Bring your family, grab your friends, and enjoy a night of incredible tunes under the open sky.
2. Open Air Meridian Culture Days – Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Barrie with a day dedicated to the arts, music, and traditions that make our community so vibrant. Open Air Meridian Culture Days will feature live performances, interactive art stations, and displays that highlight the creative spirit of our city. This is a day to explore, learn, and immerse yourself in the cultural heartbeat of Barrie.
3. Open Air Meridian Thanksgiving – Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Gather your loved ones and head to Meridian Place for a heartwarming Thanksgiving celebration. Enjoy seasonal activities, live entertainment, and a community atmosphere that captures the true spirit of Thanksgiving. This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbours and celebrate the season of gratitude together.
4. Open Air Meridian Halloween Ofrenda – Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In partnership with The Mexican House, get into the spooky spirit with our Halloween Ofrenda event! Join us for a day of fun and fright as we celebrate Halloween with a unique cultural twist. Featuring a traditional Ofrenda, this event will also celebrate the Day of the Dead. There will be costume contests for kids and pets, trick-or-treating, and festive art activities for all ages. It's a celebration like no other, right in the heart of Downtown Barrie.
Location: All events will take place at Meridian Place in downtown Barrie, the perfect setting for community gatherings and seasonal celebrations.
