A one-off performance of Christmas Cliches — A Sisterly Cabaret, performed at Burton Avenue United Church on Friday night by the acting and singing duo Rachel Delduca, who now calls Barrie home, and her acting partner Eva Petris, of Toronto, clearly demonstrated their love of Christmas.
“We wanted to create something together and we decided we were going to create a Christmas show,” Delduca told BarrieToday in a recent interview leading up to the show.
In the 'show-within-a-show,' the pair ask the audience questions and then use the information to make a production out of it, which is a tale about sisters who have been estranged for years and who are suddenly reunited on Christmas Eve.
Judging from the reaction of the audience members on Friday, no one went home disappointed, as both Delduca and Petris showed off their incredible singing voices, on-stage chemistry and their ability to engage with the crowd.
The musical glue holding the duo together is Delduca’s husband, Roberto Ercoli, on piano, who effortlessly jumps from one Christmas classic to another.
There will no doubt be more than one return request to see this talented duo once again next year on Santa's wish list.
Both Delduca and Petris are professional performers with credits including Mirvish, Disney, Netflix, the Segal Centre and more.
In addition, the duo recently released a holiday album, Christmas Clichés: Songs From A Sisterly Cabaret, featuring songs from their show.
