'Humanity is above everything': Barrie Mosque hosts community barbecue

Kids hit the bouncy castle and slide, while adults enjoyed a good meal and viewed vendor’s wares on sale

The Barrie Mosque on Tiffin Street held its annual community barbecue on Saturday.

The free event featured plenty of food and fun, as people in the community gathered to talk and meet new friends.

Kids hit the bouncy castle and slide, while adults enjoyed a good meal and viewed vendor’s wares on sale.

Representatives from the Barrie Police Service were on hand along with firefighters, showing off their truck and police cruiser, which kids could sit in and sound the sirens.

“We are gathering today to open up to the people in the community, to let them know that we are here, and all friends together, live together, and grow together,” Yusuf Haroon, president of the Barrie Mosque, told BarrieToday at the party.

“Humanity is above everything.”
