The Kempenfelt Community Players (KCP) present Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical Jr. beginning Nov. 22 at the Georgian Theatre in Barrie.

Barrie’s streets will be filled by the smell of rebellion when KCP presents Roald Dahl’s musical, Matilda the Musical Jr.
Based on the beloved book Matilda by Roald Dahl and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical, Matilda the Musical Jr. tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand, and change her own destiny.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence, and special powers. She is unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly lovable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however. The school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace.
Heading up the Matilda the Musical Jr. production team is director and KCP veteran Noah Hollinshead, music director Renée Cingolani, choreographer Adam Ashby, stage manager Zarah Walpole, and co-producers Andrée Day and Renée Cingolani. The cast features 28 talented kids from across the Simcoe County area and they will be joined onstage by a live, four-piece band.
This Broadway musical sensation, presented by the Kempenfelt Community Players, will be taking the stage at the Georgian Theatre, Nov. 22 to 24, 2024. Tickets are on sale now with performances running Friday through Sunday for one weekend only. Single ticket pricing starts at $25 per show.
