Ever wondered what was behind the doors of buildings not normally accessible to the public?

Well, this weekend's Doors Open event in Barrie could be your chance.

The event runs Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and will offer a chance to peek inside heritage buildings and museums, as well as explore city facilities and military parks.

The nine in-person sites include Barrie Fire headquarters, the Barrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus, the Barrie-South Simcoe Metis Council offices, and the Bliss2Ann Green Yoga and UPlift Black heritage building.

Also included on the tour are the General Hayter Southshore Centre and Heritage Military Park, the Grey and Simcoe Foresters Regimental Museum, J'adore Fine Cheese and Chocolate, Rogers TV Barrie, and Wedge Studio. There are also two "digital" stops on the tour, including the Grand Hotel Walking Tour and the Historic Neighbourhood Guide.

Organizers say Doors Open, hosted by the Ontario Heritage Trust, is an opportunity to learn more about what makes Barrie such a "unique community."
