Elmvale's Dayna Reid will be headlining the Celebrate Springwater event this Saturday at the Tree Nursery Sport Park in Springwater Township.

This Saturday, Springwater Township will be celebrating all the municipality has to offer.

Starting at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Tree Nursery Sport Park, located in Midhurst at 2232 Nursery Rd., the township will mark the 30th anniversary of amalgamation with a party that will include games, food and musical performances. It’s all free and everyone’s invited.

“Our 30th anniversary celebration is not just about looking back at our accomplishments, but also about coming together to celebrate the vibrant and resilient community that we are today,” Springwater Township Mayor Jennifer Coughlin said in a news release announcing the event. “We invite all residents and visitors to join us in commemorating this significant milestone.”

The celebration promises something for everyone.

When the gates open, the young folks will definitely want to head over to the kids' zone for face painting and glitter tattoos. They can jump on inflatables, tackle a climbing wall, enjoy the Snow Valley snow tube ramp, catch a roaming fire show, watch hula hoop performers, have their picture taken at a photo booth and more.

While they’re busy being kids, adults can roam the facility and check out displays from a variety of active community organizations, including Springwater Sport Heritage, Springwater Heritage and Culture Committee, Springwater Library, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Severn Sound Environmental Association, Huronia West OPP, Simcoe County Paramedics, and Springwater Fire and Emergency Services.

And when the kids are done jumping and the adults are done strolling, they can enjoy the complimentary barbecue, served up by local Lions and Lioness clubs.

Satiated with a full belly, the kids and adults can then settle in for some live music, featuring local talents who are quickly making names for themselves on the national stage.

Headlining the event is Dayna Reid, a singer-songwriter from Elmvale who’s releasing her debut album, She’s Me, on Sept. 20, a week after this showcase performance.

“My community has been a huge support while chasing my dream in the music industry,” Reid said. “So when I got the news about the opportunity to headline this hometown show in Springwater, I was beyond excited

“I was lucky enough to be able to travel to different music festivals across Canada all summer, but getting to wrap up festival season with my community means a lot to me,” she added.

Reid said she’s looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the crowd.

“This will definitely be a show to remember,” she said.

The musical performances kick off at 4:30 p.m. with Erika DaCunha and Ethan McBrien, winners of the local talent search.

They’ll be followed by Graham Scott Fleming, a performer from Elmvale who found success on Broadway before transitioning to a solo country music career in 2020. His hit single, Better Man, has been taking country radio by storm.

When the last note’s been played, visitors will turn their attention to the darkened skies for a fireworks display to close out the evening, around 8:45 p.m.

“Our intention is to have a well-rounded, family-friendly event that people of all ages could enjoy,” said Nicole Audette, communications officer for the township.

To fully enjoy the festivities, Audette recommended visitors bring a refillable water bottle and their favourite folding chair.
