The Innisfil Indian Association is proud to announce its annual Diwali Utsav, a vibrant celebration of lights, culture, and community.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Churchill Community Centre.
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The Innisfil Indian Association has designed this event to bring together families, friends, and neighbours to experience the richness of Indian traditions, through authentic Indian food, cultural dances, music, fireworks, and fun activities for all ages.
A festival of giving back
This year’s Diwali Utsav is not only about celebration but also about giving back to the community.
In the spirit of Diwali’s core value of charity, the Innisfil Indian Association is proud to support the Innisfil Food Bank by encouraging attendees to donate non-perishable food items at the event. These donations will help provide much-needed support to local families in need during the holiday season.
“The festival of Diwali is a reminder of the importance of sharing our light with others,” said Loki, president of the Innisfil Indian Association. “We are honoured to bring people together for a night of joy and cultural exchange, while also making a meaningful impact by helping the Innisfil Food Bank. We encourage everyone to join us in this celebration of community, culture, and compassion.”
