What's happening in downtown Barrie to ring in 2025?

City’s Downtown Countdown will take place at Barrie City Hall starting at 6 p.m.; road closures also in place for popular annual event

Tomorrow night (Dec. 31), the City of Barrie’s Downtown Countdown event will take place at Barrie City Hall (70 Collier St.) starting at 6 p.m.

This free evening of fun and entertainment has become one of central Ontario's largest New Year's Eve celebrations.

In addition to the headliner Madeline Merlo and children’s performers Sonshine and Broccoli, the musical lineup will feature The Redhill Valleys and local act Kyle Wauchope.

The full list of scheduled events is as follows:

  • 6 p.m. to midnight – Activities and vendors open
  • 7:10 p.m. – Sonshine and Broccoli
  • 8 p.m. – Family countdown and fireworks
  • 8:30 p.m. – Kyle Wauchope
  • 9:30 p.m. – The Redhill Valleys
  • 10:40 p.m. – Madeline Merlo
  • 11:55 p.m. – Greetings from dignitaries
  • 12 a.m. – Countdown and fireworks

Please note the following road closures will be in place for the event:

  • Collier Street from Owen Street to Mulcaster Street: 6 a.m. Dec. 30 to 12 noon Jan. 1
  • Collier Street from Mulcaster Street to Poyntz Street: 3 p.m. Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. Jan. 1
  • Mulcaster Street from Dunlop Street to Worsley Street: 3 p.m. Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. Jan. 1

Barrie Transit service will be free on New Year’s Eve starting at 5 p.m., and all routes will operate until 3 a.m.
