Missing African serval cat 'Cassie' has been located but the circumstances of how, when and who found her are not being released.
The OPP says members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment along with Tiny Township Animal Control have established that the missing feline from Tiny Township is no longer missing.
"It has been found.The cat is safe and in good health," said OPP Const. Susan Jessop.
But police say the investigation into the saga of the exotic cat on the loose is still ongoing and no further information will be released until that probe is finished.
"Our main concern is that there's no issue for safety anymore. The cat is contained and is found so the people of Tiny Township can breathe a sigh of relief," said Jessop.
Cassiopeia or 'Cassie,' had been on the run since Friday night after allegedly escaping out a door mistakenly left open by a worker, according to Randy Bidan of Tiny Township Animal Control.
A resident who lives on Tiny Beaches Road North and Forest Circle spotted the cat in his backyard around 8 p.m. Friday and called police.
The cat - the pet of a Barrie man, according to Bidan - was the subject of a public warning by the OPP who cautioned people not to approach the cat if they saw it but call police immediately.
The OPP says it would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.
The pet is banned under the township's exotic animal bylaw.
