The team at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) is proud to be serving as a Practice Ready Ontario clinical field assessment site and is pleased to welcome Dr. Masha Samadi.

Practice Ready Ontario is the government of Ontario’s new program for internationally trained family physicians who already have clinical practice experience. It is part of the plan to expand the health-care workforce and connect people to care in high-need, rural communities like ours.

Dr. Samadi is one of 30 internationally trained physicians participating in 12-week clinical assessments in rural communities across Ontario.

Here in Alliston, Dr. Samadi will be directly supervised and assessed by Dr. Ihab Khalil within the Alliston Family Health Team, as well as with various physicians at the hospital, in the emergency and medical/surgical departments.

Originally trained in Iran, Dr. Samadi appreciates experiencing the fast pace as well as the variety of cases that she gets to see in the emergency department at SMH. She has enjoyed getting to know some of the hospital’s staff and physicians, as well as members of the community.

“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Samadi join our team of physicians at Stevenson,” says Dr. Roger Musa, chief of staff, SMH. “We’re proud to have our hospital chosen as a Practice Ready Ontario clinical field assessment site and know that she will get a lot out of her experience in a busy community hospital emergency department that is in demand, as well as a busy primary care practice."

SMH’s emergency department sees almost 35,000 patients a year in a facility that was built for 7,000 visits. SMH will be building a new facility that will wrap around the current building, tripling the size of the hospital. It will feature a new emergency department, also triple its current size. Construction is set to get underway in late 2025.

Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Samadi to our community!
