Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Severn Township artist Dave Beckett, known for his red canoe paintings and prints, has been painting up a storm.
Actually, calm and sunset skies have been his subjects and are featured in his gallery/studio in Marchmont, just west of Orillia.
Both large and small, his award-winning work in oil and pastel can also be seen at Donna Child Fine Art Gallery, 365 Evans Ave., Etobicoke. Donna Child, curator/owner, describes Beckett’s works as “stunning,” as do many of his private, corporate and federal and provincial government art collectors at home and abroad.
The idea to choose sky subjects began with a commission to complete a painting of St. James’ Anglican Church of Orillia looking skyward at the steeple.
