Retreat and Spiritual Director, Wendy Passmore, of Orillia recently self-published a book entitled Francis of Assisi Continues to Inspire.
Passmore has a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Toronto and a MA in Ministry and Spirituality from Regis College, University of Toronto. She has been trained in both the Ignatian and Franciscan spiritual disciplines.
This booklet was born out of many years of reflecting on the Francis story.
“I met Francis while working at Mount Alverno Retreat Centre and felt I had met my soulmate as I resonated with his teachings and way of being in the world," said Passmore.
The stories shared in this booklet for meditation “live in my heart and soul and they will help the reader have a new understanding of the goodness in life,” adds Passmore.
In Orillia, Passmore has a private practice in her work of spiritual direction and retreat ministry. More recently, during the pandemic she created a Zoom ministry where people from all over gather on-line for meditation, reflection and spiritual questing. Even post pandemic this continues to flourish.
Passmore's experience includes work at Mount Alverno Franciscan Retreat Centre, where as Director she offered visionary leadership, facilitated retreats and served as spiritual director for groups and individuals. Her work has also included: Co-ordination of a storefront Christian drop-in centre ministry at Square One Shopping Centre, Mississauga and oversight of various community projects. Passmore is a member of Spiritual Directors International.
