Local author Catherine Kenwell has released Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Grief, a collection of stories reflecting on how betrayal, trauma, and death shape our thoughts and worldviews.

“I’m no expert on grief, and this is not a self-help book,” Kenwell states, “but sharing our stories can help those grappling with loss. I think of Life After Loss as a conversation with a good friend, someone who can help ease your burden by just being there and listening.”

The book, published by local Wintertickle Press, features contributions from Canadian and U.K. authors, with a foreword by Sandy Joy, B.A.(Psych), MACP, RPC, MPCC-S, a Barrie psychologist and grief specialist.

Through intimate narratives, Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Grief demonstrates the power of storytelling and invites personal reflection on reactions to grief and loss. It explores wide-ranging themes of loss such as betrayal, trauma, PTSD, death and illness, and loss of friendships and relationships.

“As humans, we tend to avoid talking about death and loss,” Kenwell says. “Life After Loss engages readers with authentic, poignant, sometimes funny, and often life-changing stories from those who have been there. I believe it will open up conversation on these universal themes and may even help those who are grappling with their own grief.”

The Prairies Book Review declares Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Grief “outstanding” and “demonstrating the power of storytelling to connect, inspire, and bring comfort to readers on their own paths through grief. With messages about seeking support, having empathy, and finding gratitude in healing, this collection invites reflection on our own emotions and experiences.”

The book is currently available on Amazon for $22.95 by clicking here.
