Barrie & District Christmas Cheer is excited to announce that online applications for its 2024 campaign are now live.
Families in Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Springwater and Oro-Medonte who could benefit from a little extra support this Christmas are encouraged to apply through the official website at christmascheerbarrie.com/apply.
This year marks a significant milestone for Barrie & District Christmas Cheer as it celebrates 50 years of spreading holiday cheer to families in need.
With rising inflation driving up the cost of living, organizers expect a substantial increase in applications for support in 2024, as more families feel the financial strain of higher grocery and living expenses.
“Online applications are the easiest and most convenient way to apply for support this holiday season,” said Sandra Yaquo, president of Barrie & District Christmas Cheer. “You can apply from the comfort of your own home and on your own schedule.
"Of course, our dedicated applications team is always just a phone call or email away to assist you with the process. For those who need extra help, we will also be holding in-person application sessions to ensure everyone can access the support they need.”
In-person application assistance will begin Nov. 19, 2024 at Kozlov Mall, 400 Bayfield St. in Barrie.
Application centre hours of operation:
- Nov. 19, 2024 — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Nov. 28, 2024 — 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Dec. 5, 2024 — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Dec. 7, 2024 — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Christmas Cheer has set a fundraising goal of $450,000 for 2024, a target that reflects the growing demand for their services. Monetary donations remain the most effective way to support the campaign, allowing the organization to leverage its purchasing power and relationships with local grocers and toy distributors to provide the most value to families in need.
In addition to online donations, the community can also contribute by texting their support. To donate, text CHEER to 30333 to donate $10 or $25 to Barrie & District Christmas Cheer.
