Barrie firefighters to the rescue

A local organization was saved from having to fly a tattered flag for Remembrance Day

Barrie Fire and Emergency Service immediately answered the call to help the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre.

The Centre sent out a plea for help on social media Thursday afternoon to get their Canadian flag down to replace it in time for Remembrance Day.

The flag had wrapped around the top of the pole and the Centre said it didn't have the resources or tools to get it down.

Once alerted to the post, firefighters sent over their aerial truck, took down the old flag and helped raise the new one.
