This October, the Barrie Public Library (BPL) is inviting the community to celebrate Canadian Library Month in a special way by participating in the Share the Library Love contest.

With fantastic prizes up for grabs, including an ASUS Chromebook, a $50 Amazon gift card, and three BPL swag bags, now is the perfect time to spread the word about all the benefits a library card offers.

Library members are encouraged to visit any library location and pick up one of our contest flyers with three tear-off cards to give to friends and family. When they bring one of the cards in to sign up for a library card, they’ll get a piece of BPL swag and the member who referred them will be entered into the grand-prize draws.

The contest runs throughout Canadian Library Month, with prize draws taking place after Nov. 13.

“We’ve been blown away by the incredible support and enthusiasm from our community this year,” said Melissa Foster, manager of marketing and communications at the Barrie Public Library. “We’ve already welcomed close to 10,000 new members, and this contest is a great way to build on that momentum. We’re excited to see even more people discover what the library has to offer.”

Canadian Library Month is a time to highlight the valuable role libraries play in Canadians’ lives. More than just a place to find amazing books, the Barrie Public Library offers a huge collection of items to borrow.

From movies, video games, and magazines, to unique items like metal detectors, karaoke machines, gardening kits, and bike repair kits, there is something for everyone. Diverse programs and events are offered year-round for kids, teens, adults, and seniors.

Visit the Creative Spaces to use the 3D printer, sewing machines, button maker, and Cricut machines. The library also has many study and workspaces, bookable rooms, free Wi-Fi, computers and laptops, children’s play areas, and more.

Library memberships are available for free to those who live, work or study in Barrie, as well as residents of Oro-Medonte and military personnel stationed at Base Borden.
