Barrie Santa Claus Parade 2016

Thoughts on the parade: Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman: "This was a great job by all involved and I couldn't be prouder of the people of Barrie for coming out despite the drizzle and bit of cold.

Despite the cold drizzle of rain, Barrie was in full festive force for the Santa Claus Parade. Some of the dignitaries involved had some thoughts on the event.

Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman:

"This was a great job by all involved and I couldn't be prouder of the people of Barrie for coming out despite the drizzle and bit of cold. This is an event I love coming to with my family and really it is something that should be enjoyed by the little kids and big kids like myself."

MP (Barrie/Innisfil) John Brassard:

"A little rain never hurt anyone, this was a great night. The people of Barrie come out to this event in droves every year, nothing will stop them from celebrating this time of year with their family."

MP (Barrie/Springwater/Oro-Medonte) Alex Nuttall:

"This day is about so much and so many people. Obviously its about the kids seeing Santa and cheering for their favourite float, but with the toy drives and food drives, it's about looking around and wondering maybe the person next to you could use a little extra help this season. I enjoy the parade and the tree lighting, but I tend to have my thoughts go to how do we make this community have a wonderful Christmas."

Barrie Chamber of Commerce CEO Rod Jackson:

"It's great to know that all the hard work of everyone involved paid off towards a wonderful night. I'm very happy with how the city responded and also with how well the parade itself went; went off without a hitch and we'll try to top it next year."
