People are lining up to sign a book of condolence this morning at Barrie City Hall to remember long time CTV weather specialist Bob McIntyre.
A portrait of the beloved weather icon and the book of condolence are set up at a table adorned with flowers where fans and friends are invited to pen a message and share memories.
The book will be passed along to McIntyre's family.
Tributes have been pouring in for McIntyre who passed away Thursday at Royal Victoria Hospital.
He was 73.
CTV Barrie announced McIntyre's passing Thursday afternoon and said a tribute to "Bob's life and his legacy" would be produced in the coming days.
"Bob was a fixture on our station and in our community for over 40 years, until his retirement last fall," the station wrote on its web site. "Bob's health took a very sudden turn in recent days. His wife Darlene was by his side when he died."
Barrie MPP Ann Hoggarth released a statement on McIntyre's passing.
Hogarth said she is incredibly saddened and will remember McIntyre not only as a great broadcaster, but also as someone who defined community spirit and volunteerism.
"Bob was a giant in Barrie, not only because he was a fixture on our TV screens for so long, but also because of everything he did for the community," Hoggarth said. "He was a great example of the best of our city.
"May you fly your Tiger Moth through the clouds forever, Bob."
Former colleague, Barrie resident and longtime host of Breakfast Television in Toronto Kevin Frankish tweeted the contents of an interview he did with McIntyre just yesterday.
According to Frankish, McIntyre's final message to his viewers included a reference to the longtime profession he loved - the weather.
"For the past 50 years you have made myself and my wife a part of your life. We have had a lot of fun and may all your days be sunny!" McIntyre was quoted as saying to everyone who ever watched him.
