WORLD RELIGION DAY BARRIE
*************************
All members of the public are warmly invited to attend Barrie’s 36th annual World Religion Day gathering, an inclusive and affirming multi-faith observance held on Jan. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Barrie City Hall Rotunda (70 Collier St.).

This cherished annual event brings together individuals from all walks of life to celebrate the power of faith and unity in fostering peace and understanding across diverse communities.

This year’s theme, Building Capacity for Unity, highlights how faith traditions inspire cooperation and collective action to create a more peaceful, compassionate and united world.

The program will feature:

  • Dignitaries and guest speakers from multiple levels of government
  • Faith leaders from the local Jewish, Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim, Baháʼí, Christian and other faith traditions
  • Sacred readings and reflections from various spiritual teachings
  • Uplifting performances by children’s dance groups, musicians, and singers
  • An interactive Q&A session to encourage meaningful dialogue and connection

This gathering is more than a celebration of religious diversity — it is an opportunity to explore shared values, promote empathy, and recognize the vital role that faith communities play as beacons of hope, reconciliation, and peace in today’s world.

All are welcome, regardless of religious background or belief system. Your presence will help affirm the shared desire to foster mutual respect, understanding, and unity in our community. Together, we can celebrate the strength found in diversity and continue working toward a future built on kindness and cooperation.
