Brampton announces Bill Boyes as new Fire Chief

BRAMPTON, ON – It is with pleasure that the City of Brampton announces Bill Boyes has been hired as Fire Chief, commencing October 10, 2017.

Community safety is central to our City operations, and will continue to be as we grow from our current 600,000 people to close to 900,000 by 2041. Our rapid growth places an even greater importance on recognizing the interdependencies between all City divisions and our Brampton Fire and Emergency Services (BFES) team.

Most recently, Bill was Fire Chief for the City of Barrie. Prior to that, Bill was part of our own Brampton Fire team for a decade, holding a series of progressive positions which provides him with intimate knowledge of the growth and potential of both the fire service and our city.

Passionate about the fire service and public education, Bill is a true people leader, connecting openly and easily with all parts of the fire service, fire association and leadership team, Council, and the public. Building relationships with fire service labour and management leaders, various professional development organizations, and public administration experience help him approach diverse issues in inventive ways.

The BFES Fire Chief leads more than 500 dedicated, trained professionals to protect our community through active partnerships, providing the highest quality preventative, educational and emergency services.
