The OPP say remains found in a makeshift shelter in a wooded area in Springwater Township belong to a Barrie area woman.
Officers from the Huronia West OPP Detachment and Simcoe County Paramedic Service responded to a report around noon Monday that a body was found behind a business on Bayfield Street North, just outside Barrie city limits.
Police say the woman was 42-years-old and from the Barrie area. Her name has not been released and police are trying to determine the circumstances of her death.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Huronia West Crime Unit.
