A 14-year-old boy is in custody after Barrie police officers were called to a robbery at the Circle K on Hurst Drive in the city’s southeast end last night.
Barrie police corporate communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that the details being released are limited due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) protecting the identity of the accused.
The 14-year-old male has been charged with robbery with a weapon and failure to comply Youth Criminal Justice Act probation.
He was being brought in front of a judge today.
“There was a robbery and one person, a youth, has been arrested,” Leon said. “He is being held for Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court this morning. Due to the provisions of the YCJA, no further details surrounding the youth can be provided.”
Police responded to the store, located at 201 Hurst Dr. in the Kingswood Plaza near Cox Mill Road, at 11:35 p.m.
An employee at the Circle K, who did not want to be identified, told BarrieToday that “everyone is OK and nobody was hurt.”
