INNISFIL - On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, just before 6 p.m., South Simcoe Police officers were at St. Francis of Assisi School in Alcona on an investigation when they were approached by day care staff.

The day care workers pointed out a dirt bike motorcycle being driven in an aggressive manner on school property.

As an officer in a car attempted to stop the motorcyclist, he sped away, causing several cars to take evasive action to avoid colliding with him.

As he did so, the officer activated his radar and the vehicle registered a speed of 102 km/h in the 40 km/h school zone on Anna Maria Drive.

The motorcyclist was spotted a few moments later on Lowrie Street, and arrested when he tried to evade officers a second time.

A 17-year-old Innisfil boy has been charged with speeding, drive under suspension, stunt driving, fail to stop for police and three charges under
the Off Road Vehicles Act.

The suspension arises from an earlier Impaired Driving charge.

He was released to the care of his father and will appear in court in July to answer to the charges. The dirt bike was impounded for 7 days.

During Road Safety Week, South Simcoe Police will be promoting safe driving and looking for drivers who speed, drive distracted or drive in an aggressive manner.
