An early-morning fire at the Barrie campus of Georgian College has shut down the institution.
According to the Barrie Fire Department, firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly and there were no injuries.
However, due to the fire at the Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation building, Georgian College officials have cancelled all classes for the day and the campus is, effectively, shut down.
At 6:30 a.m., Barrie Fire reported they would be remaining on scene "for some time" to remove smoke from the building and "to investigate the cause of the fire."
At 7:30 a.m., Barrie Fire reported they have called the Ontario Fire Marshal in to investigate the origin/cause of the blaze.
