Busking brothers debut in downtown Barrie

First weekend for Barrie's street performers

A corner of Dunlop Street East was filled with the sounds of guitar, banjo and some sweet vocals this weekend as the Medonte Boys made their street busker debut.

Xander Lloyd, 13, and his brother Ty, 14, played blue grass, country and old rock for an audience of passersby during their first weekend performing in downtown Barrie.

The Lloyd brothers were among eight successful applicants chosen for the city's Street Performer program out of a variety of skills -  visual artists, performing artists, musicians or magicians.

"They called us and said 'you're buskers.' So it was pretty neat," said Ty after auditioning in April.

Street performers are paid $14.17 an hour and are allowed to accept tips.
