BARRIE AND DISTRICT CHRISTMAS CHEER

Barrie and District Christmas Cheer celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2020 by welcoming their latest female president, Cindy Tonn.

Christmas Cheer’s newest president isn’t actually new at all; Tonn brings 25 years of expert experience with the organization, having joined the Board of Directors alongside the organization’s founding member, Ernie Nullmeyer.

Having personally struggled with mobility issues for many years due to a spinal-cord injury she suffered in 1990, she recognized the need for community support and involvement. As a passionate supporter of many charities including those related to disabilities, autism, accessibility and mental health, community work became her passion.

Tonn spent the majority of her time on the board of Barrie and District Christmas Cheer as the donations secretary, where she managed all of the charity’s fundraising efforts and corporate donations. Having a lofty fundraising goal of raising $250,000, Christmas Cheer felt more than confident with Tonn at the wheel in this role.

Tonn has the support and encouragement of her fellow board members and also her family, husband, Kevin, son, Brady and step-daughter, Trinity. Although, her fellow board members are excited to see what she does with the gauntlet, Christmas Cheer’s 1,700 recipients will truly be the ones benefiting from from her passion and dedication during the 2020 campaign.
