NEWS RELEASE
DOWNTOWN BARRIE BIA
*************************
The Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) is excited to announce the return of the 30-foot Christmas tree at Meridian Place. Installation is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Nov. 12.
A beautiful Norway spruce, sourced by Drysdale’s, will be erected by crane and securely held in place with a custom eight-by-10-foot stand.
Approximately 23,000 low-draw LED lights will be strung illuminating Meridian Place with the magic of the season. Destined for removal due to adjacent power lines, this tree will find a happy home in downtown Barrie until its removal after the holiday season.
A huge thank-you goes out to Farm Boy, our presenting tree sponsor. They’ll be joining us for the Noëlla Tree-lighting Celebration on Nov. 19, from their Barrie location at 436 Bryne Dr., and they'll be joined by their mascots Lulu and Farm Hand. Be sure to find them in Meridian Place and grab a picture!
There’s a full day of fun planned, so bundle up and spend a cozy day downtown. We’ll have wagon rides, art activities, carollers, performances by the Simcoe Contemporary Dancers, and live music on the Meridian Stage starting at 3 p.m., leading up to the Barrie Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade, starting at 5 p.m. from Tiffin Street.
After the parade, head back to Meridian Place for the Noëlla Tree-lighting Celebration and fireworks, followed by a free concert with The Strumbellas. Get ready to get festive Barrie!
